Dr. Simon Echegu

Dr. Echegu is a Senior Academic Staff, working as a Lecturer and Researcher in the Department of Geology and Petroleum Studies, Makerere University. He has 20 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, most of it gained from working in the Albertine Graben; initially as a Petroleum Geochemist for 10 years, and later as a Consultant, at the Directorate of Petroleum, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development. Dr. Echegu holds a special Presidential recognition for dedicated (oil and gas) exploration effort. He is also a member of the Governing Council of Uganda Petroleum Institute, Kigumba.

A Fulbright Science and Technology Awardee, Dr. Echegu holds a PhD. in Geology (Petroleum Systems and Geochemistry) from the University of Houston, MSc. Petroleum Geochemistry from the University of Newcastle; BSc. Geology & Chemistry from Makerere University; Diploma in Management of Petroleum Development and Operations from PETRAD Norway; and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Uganda Management Institute, Kampala.
