The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development acquired 300 acres of land for development of the Kampala Storage Terminal, KST.
The project was handed over UNOC to implement the development and operation of the Terminal. The Project Development Plan was completed; and UNOC is set to secure a development partner with funding and experience in the development and operation of petroleum terminals; through a competitive process.
UNOC will hold controlling interest in the terminal. The Terminal will be a hub for all envisaged (inland and transboundary) pipelines for refined products in/through Uganda. The terminal will further enhance reserves of petroleum supply in the country.
The Request For Proposal competitive process is currently on going and a joint venture partner should be secured soon.
The Environmental Social Impact Assessment for the project was completed and a NEMA certificate acquired.
