Eng. Herbert Magyezi Mugizi

Eng. Herbert Magyezi Mugizi, currently Principal Petroleum Engineer in the Directorate of Petroleum, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, has over fifteen (15) years experience in the petroleum industry, ranging from exploration, development, and production, to refining, transportation and storage.
Eng. Mugizi is the Project Coordinator of the EACOP Project in the Ministry and supervises the Divisions of Refining, Gas Conversion, Petroleum Transportation and Storage in the Midstream Petroleum Department.
Over the years, Eng. Mugizi has been involved in various projects across the petroleum value chain. He has participated in drafting Petroleum Sharing Agreements (PSAs), laws, regulations, and guidelines. He has also been involved in reserves estimation, reservoir evaluation, detailed engineering studies, project planning, Field Development Plans, negotiation of agreements and licencing among others.
Eng. Mugizi holds an MSc in Energy, Trade and Finance with distinction from Cass Business School, City, University of London, where he was presented the Beta Gamma Award. He also holds an MSc in Reservoir Evaluation and Management from Heriot- Watt University, Edinburgh, and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Makerere University, Kampala. He has undertaken several specialised trainings in petroleum- related disciplines from Petrad-Norway, the University of Texas at Austin, and India among others. Eng. Mugizi is a registered Engineer (#1208), a member of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE} and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
